Venus Enters Pisces: Beauty, Pleasure, and Harmony

Today, Venus wades into Pisces, and oh isn't the water fine? Venus, the planet of connection, harmony, beauty, and pleasure is entering the sign known for its connection with others and its loving nature. Venus is exalted in Pisces, which means, in part, that she is strengthened here. She can work her magic.

The Sun and Neptune, the modern ruler of Pisces, are also here, making for a bit of a party and taking some pressure off all the Aquarian lessons we've been learning so far in 2021.

Remembering that Pisces Season invites us explore wisdom through feeling (see my Pisces Season post from last week), Venus sweetens the invitation. While Pisces allows us to connect with the collective unconscious and divine wisdom, Venus encourages us to connect into pleasure through our senses.

But what does this have to do with the craft of writing and cultivating your creativity? How does pleasure help you to conjure the Muse?

In The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity (a book I would recommend to any creative), Julia Cameron details the "artist date" as one of the basic tools of any artist. Essentially, the artist date is time set aside every week to take out your inner artist. She writes, "Your artist needs to be taken out, pampered, and listened to. ..A little fun can go a long way toward making your work feel more like play. We forget that imagination-at-play is at the heart of all good work...In order to have a real relationship with our creativity, we must take the time and care to cultivate it." We need to be "self-nourishing," she continues, to "replenish our creative resources." Relationship, pleasure, fun, and self-care are all within the purview of Venus and all essential for any artist.

While Venus is in Pisces until March 21st, how can you nourish your creativity and your inner artist? What pleasures, sensuality, and joy can fill your creative well? Where can you find rest? Where can you find ease?
