On October 10th, 2023, Pluto stationed direct in the sign of Capricorn. For the previous 8 days and the 8 days following, the planet of power, oppression, and hidden things will sit in the same place in the sky (27 degrees Capricorn 54 minutes, to be exact). Pluto’s transits are long—it has been in Capricorn since November 2008—and it also spends half the year retrograde. So when we feel Pluto transits the most are when it interacts with our natal planets or other transiting planets, or when it stations. So this week, as Pluto stations direct and will soon be squared by a solar eclipse in Libra, the meaning of the Pluto transit will be loud in our lives and on the broader world stage.
Pluto excavates. Pluto reveals. Pluto punishes. Power imbalances—especially financial and sociopolitical—have been a major theme of the Pluto in Capricorn transit for the wider world. But for each of us personally, Pluto is traversing some area of our life and digging up the skeletons. Look at the image below to see what area(s) of your life have been bulldozed by Pluto since 2008. What has been uprooted? What secrets were revealed? What chains have you railed against? What oppression have you benefits from?
You might also think back to last year and think how those areas of life were being impacted when Pluto stationed retrograde (April 29, 2022) and then direct (October 8, 2022).
I also felt that the Capricorn-Cancer eclipses of 2019-2020, which interacted with Pluto in Capricorn, felt very loud in my own life. Perhaps you might think back to the following dates:
December 26, 2019 Capricorn eclipse
January 10, 2020 Cancer eclipse
June 21, 2020 Cancer eclipse
July 5, 2020 Capricorn eclipse
Pluto made its first foray into Aquarius earlier this year on March 23. It’ll head back into the Water Bearer’s sign on January 20, 2024, only to retrograde back into Cap September 1, 2024 for the last time before entering Aquarius again on November 19, 2024—where it’ll stay until 2044. So this stationing of Pluto now and it’s last stationing in Capricorn next October will be the final punctuation on the story of Pluto in Cap. How have you transformed?
